Worries continue, but all is thankfully still well (PAL Journal: 27 Weeks)

7/7/17 (27 weeks 3 days)

Talked to the nurse again. She said not to worry, the infection in my urine wouldn’t get to the baby. If this antibiotic doesn’t work again then they test to see what antibiotic the bacteria responds to and try a different one. She said don’t read anything online or even think about that we are treating it. The only reason she said they are doing anything now was because it was in my urine so they don’t want my kidneys to get infected or have it cause preterm labor. I know the statistics are very low for it causing the baby to be infected or stillborn but that’s a trigger to me so she said she knows but they are monitoring me closely. I would know if my uterus got infected, have fever etc.

7/8/17 Thankfully our doctor approved that I could be at Naomi’s birthday party. He was very strict about me staying on bedrest at home. I was only allowed to get up to use the bathroom, shower and go to the doctor. But I wanted some normalcy for Naomi, so I was glad he thought I could be there at the party as long as I went straight back to laying down and didn’t overdue it. She had such a great time with her friends bowling and I was just so happy to be able to see her enjoy her day. We missed so much together this year, but we know it’s for a reason.

*Things To Do:

  • Make sure to get tested for rh antibodies
  • get Rhogham shot
  • start counting kicks regularly twice a day morning and evening (All day, in my case! I’m extremely nervous so I can’t help it!)
  • Retest for GBS infection

*This was my list of running worries & things to do. I recommend keeping a list like this in your phone notes section to be able to refer to at your appointments. Especially if pregnant after loss because your anxiety may make you forget to ask something. Take the list out and make sure you don’t leave before getting all your questions answered! Take your time, slow the appointment down, you do not have to rush. You’re not wasting anyone’s time and you and your baby deserve to have the best care.

During bedrest I took to crocheting to keep my mind busy. I learned how to make boots, sweaters, beanies, etc. from YouTube videos. It was helpful to have something that took a significant amount of time to distract me from worrying over Jackson. I also decided to try to make some photos of myself to document our growth. This silhouette idea someone shared online was harder than it looked! Simple things like this really helped me get through my time on PAL/bedrest. What worked for you? Comment to share.
